Archers of Loaf was a scrappy indie rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  Their signature album Icky Mettle set forth a unique sound that was energetic, melodic and spazzy.  The result was like early Elvis Costello mixed with early REM.  Althought they never achieved the dizzying heights of many of many peers, their influence is notable in many bands today. 

The band tumbled through much of the nineties before finally calling it quits in 1998.  In Eric's own words:

"Archers broke up in 1998 and I embarked on a financially lucrative solo career. I finally gave up the dream to go to law school. Graduated. Now I'm just scared."

We'll wait to hear where he lands from here, but as you can see from his MySpace page, he is what we call a 'funnyman'.
